1. Thoroughly wash the inside of your lexan body with soap and water to remove any oil and residue. Once your body is clean and all soapy
water has been rinsed away you must completely dry it. Plan your body design and cut out around the Internal
Graphic that you wish to apply. Try to cut as close to the line around the graphic as possible. The less clear
material you leave around the graphic the better the results.
2. Peel away the graphic backing and apply it within the body. Be careful when placing the decal to not get air bubbles. It may be easier to use a glass cleaner such as Windex to apply the decals and use a clean rag to squeegee out the excess fluid once the graphic is placed in the desired location. By pre-soaking the area you wish to apply the decal to with glass cleaner you will be able to move the decal slightly if the initial placement is not correct. It will be much easier to squeegee out any air bubbles as well. If you decide to utilize fluid for applying the decals you must ensure that the fluid has completely dried or evaporated before
painting the rest of the body. This could take several hours. All vinyl decals shrink a bit when subjected to extreme heat so if you use a heavy heat source to help dry your paint quicker be careful not to direct it at the vinyl decals or shrinkage can occur. If the decal does shrink, it will not be damaged but you may get a tiny gap around the graphic between
the paint.
3. Once you are happy with the placement of the decal, all of the air bubbles have been squeegeed out,
and the glass cleaner has completely evaporated you are ready to paint.
Mask off areas you don’t want painted to prepare the body for
the first coat.
4. Spray your first color
by dusting on your first coat lightly to seal all of the edges of
the window masks and Internal Graphics. After the first coat
of paint has dried you can do your second and third coats to
finalize the coverage. Once the first color has fully dried
you can remove the masking tape. Be careful not to pull the
Internal Graphic away from the body as you're removing the masking
tape.
5. Hit
your final color of paint by starting with a light dusting
followed by one or two slightly heavier coats of paint. Once
the paint has dried you can remove the protective coating on the
outside of your body, apply some decals, and you’re done!
